A summary of our recent and upcoming events.
Message from the President...
The end of Summer ushers in two big events for the Appalachian Region that you don't want to miss attending: Appalachian Adventure and Oktoberfest.
Visit the Appalachian Adventure Concours
The newly renovated Waynesville Inn & Golf Club will host Appalachian Adventure from September 7-10, 2023 for three days of driving, socializing, and showing and sharing of Porsches by 118 members. It is a sold-out event but you can still come out and enjoy the concours and parade through Waynesville on Saturday, September 10, 2023.
Starting at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. there will be over 40 Porsches of various models and styles on display from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in front of the newly renovated Waynesville Inn during a People’s Choice Concours d ‘elegance. You are invited to see and walk among the many Porsches that will be on display. And, then at 2:00 p.m. the cars will depart Waynesville Inn and Golf Club for a parade down the Main Street of Waynesville.
Thanks to the Appalachian Adventure planning committee, led by John Goetzman with the help of Bob Herrmann for making this annual event happen. I hope to see you in Waynesville on Saturday.
Register September 15 for the 2nd Annual Octoberfest Celebration
The second big Fall event for Appalachian Region is the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Celebration & MANNA FoodBank fundraiser, scheduled this year for October 28, 2023.
George and Cindy Cain are following up the success of the inaugural event with a new venue at the Old Bishop Place Farm in Cedar Mountain. The Biltmore-like estate will double the number who can participate, and provide a remarkable venue of manicured grounds, sculptures, lakes and ponds, with a pavilion to seat 200 of us. Pictured to the right is just one sight to enjoy on the grounds.
The day starts with drives or finding your own way to Cedar Mountain where the award-winning German restaurant Haus Heidelberg will be serving brats, schnitzel or a vegetarian lunch with German beers and wines. There will be door prizes, a ticket auction and games to enjoy. Registration opens September 15 at 12:00 p.m. For more details, click on this link.
While the Oktoberfest celebration is planned for the enjoyment of our members, a key element of our celebration is the Appalachian Region’s community support commitment. The Appalachian Region has supported MANNA FoodBank since before APR was formed in 2015. The impact of food insecurity in WNC has increased since that time so the Region's time and money contributions are greatly needed and appreciated.
Plan on enjoying your Porsche this September and join us at an Appalachian Region event.
