The Appalachian Region membership continues to grow unabated as we have now surpassed 600 members in the Region. We are the ninth largest Region of the 16 Regions in the Southeast.

This growth really impacts our events as they are selling out faster than ever. Appalachian Adventure sold out in 11 hours. The Blowing Rock event will see the largest attendance ever with 65 cars and 121 participants. We have had to close the wait list. All of our events are usually space limited so I encourage you to sign up early when an event opens.

A new event is coming on October 15, 2022 that you will want to be aware of: an Oktoberfest Party with Leaf Viewing Drives. George and Cindy Cain and Jim and Linda Moore are organizing this event to include drives from Asheville, Hendersonville and Waynesville. Larry Koupal, Bill Price and Don Lowcavage are planning beautiful fall mountain drives. All the tours will arrive at The Grand Olde Station restaurant in Lake Toxaway for an Oktoberfest party.

The Oktoberfest drive and party will have a fee per person that includes a donation to MANNA Foodbank, a German-themed lunch and a chance to win one of the door prizes. Details are being finalized. Registration will open on September 15, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.

HELP with Oktoberfest: 1) Do you play in a Polka Band or know of one? We would like one at Oktoberfest. 2) Also, we are looking for door prizes and silent auction items for Oktoberfest. If you have a polka band, door prize or auction item connection, let me know by clicking this email link.

In the meantime, I'll see you at Appalachian Adventure!

Drive with the Appalachian HPDE Team at CMP

Nine Appalachian drivers are off to the Carolinas Motorsports Park on September 17 & 18 to drive a High Performance Driver's Education (HPDE) event with Hooked on Driving. We would normally be driving the Carolina's Region HPDE at CMP in September but this year it conflicts with Appalachian Adventure.

If you want to learn about the basics of HPDE events and how your Porsche is protected through on-track insurance, here is an article about the Appalachian Region track program. Basics of High Performance Drivers Education

However several drivers who are not attending Appalachian Adventure are attending the September 10 & 11 PCA HPDE at CMP. If you want to drive on the track, you have a choice of two weekends. Send an email if you are interested in driving one of these events and you'll be connected with the Appalachian Region organizer.

Breakfast at the Smoky Mountain Diner in September

Join Joe's Breakfast Ramble at the Smoky Mountain Diner in Hot Springs, NC on September 17, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. This is a club favorite since the food is great, ambiance is terrific and the roads to and from Hot Springs provide driving fun. Smoky Mountain Diner is known for their cinnamon buns, but their full breakfast fare is terrific. Registration for the September Breakfast Ramble opens on August 15, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Click on this link to register.

Register for the September Hike to see the Hawk Migration

Hike this double-summit, scenic five mile loop on the Art Loeb and Investor Gap trails, summiting Black Balsam Knob and Tennent Mountain. It’s a sun-drenched, blueberry and blackberry-filled adventure over two bald mountains to some incredible views.

The timing of this hike was chosen to maximize our chances of seeing the Broad Wing Hawks migrate south for the winter. On average, 400-500 Hawks fly past this area daily during late September. For more information and registration, click on this link.

Show Your Porsche at the 25th Annual Euro Auto Festival In Greenville
