The Appalachian Region is committed to the support of Manna FoodBank which serves the same 16 WNC counties that compose our Region. September is Hunger Action Month and Manna is in need of additional special event volunteers.

David ButterAs a MANNA FoodBank volunteer I received the information below that may be of interest to the Appalachian Region membership. They are volunteer opportunities as well as events your may be interested in attending. Also, MANNA is an APR charity partner and the region volunteers at MANNA on Swannanoa River Road monthly on the first Tuesday at 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. We are committed to providing eight volunteers and we currently have seventeen members that help to meet that commitment. If you’d like to volunteer please contact David Butler at

September is Hunger Action Month and numerous events will be taking place throughout the month aimed at raising awareness and support for our work to end hunger in WNC.

Speaking of helping to make a difference, we have a handful of volunteer opportunities available this month and would love to have you help us out! All volunteer opportunities will be filled on a first come, first served basis. So if any of the below opportunities strike your fancy, please respond as soon as you are able in order to secure a spot.

On behalf of the staff here at MANNA and those whom we serve, thank you so much for all you do to help alleviate food insecurity in WNC.

With gratitude,
Matt Farr, MANNA Volunteer Coordinator
