Welcome to the last year of the decade or the first year of a new decade!
As a last official act as President, here's a summary of January 2020's events with other news.
Over 100 Appalachian members celebrated the holidays at our annual charity gala hosted jointly by the Region and Porsche Ashevill.
The event will take place in Blowing Rock, NC on September 10-13. Mark your calendars!
On December 7, we held our annual meeting at the Asheville Country Club.

The Appalachian Region Annual Membership Meeting will be held this Saturday, December 7, 10:00 am at the Country Club of Asheville.

Here are some reminders of upcomint events.
Apparently the Randevu Restaurant in Cashiers didn’t know that the Appalachian Region’s (APR) members are early birds.
We have held Breakfast Rambles at these locations.
On a rather chilly evening we met at the Craft Centric Taproom in Arden to enjoy some good beer and good conversation.
Please mark your calendar and plan to join us to celebrate the season with Appalachian Region friends, Porsche owners throughout WNC, and the folks at Porsche Asheville/Harmony Motors.
Come join us at this month's Appalachian Region PCA Social at Craft Centric Taproom on Wednesday, November 13th from 5-7pm. If you are already signed up for VIR later this month or interested in learning more about the track, this will be a great time to get together.
On a brisk November 2, 33 Appalachian members showed their Porsches at the annual Charles George VA Medical Center Car and Bike Show.
The Appalachian Region’s Blue Ridge Parkway and Mountains are one of the top destinations to enjoy the changing of the leaves color so it is only fitting that the last drive of the season is the Fall Color Tour.

As our main November Saturday event, the 9th Annual ‘Saluting Our Veterans’ Open Car and Bike Show is coming up on Saturday, 2 November.
When we got our 2014 981 Boxster, it did not have a backup camera, as Porsche did not offer it as an option that year.

We met for the first time at the Wicked Weed West Taproom in Enka.
On October 8 Porsche Asheville treated about 180 Porsche enthusiasts to a celetration of the 992 launch.
Our October 5 breakfast ramble was to the very popular Honey & Salt in Flat Rock.
Coming envents include election of our region's officers, a 992 rollout party, a breakfast ramble, our monthly social, the VA car show, and several others.
Appalachian's 4th DE event of 2019 will be at Virginia International Raceway in November.
More than 30 Appalachian members met for breakfast at the Smoky Mountain Diner on Saturday, September 21.
Porsche Asheville has invited AR Members to join them in celebrating the launch of the new 992.
The September Drive and Dine event saw 23 cars and 38 Appalachian Region members drive the route planned by Lee Geronime and David Stori from Maggie Valley, NC to Clingman’s Dome in Tennessee ending with a drive to the “Road to Nowhere.”
We made our first visit to Eluvian Brewing in Weaverville.
In accordance with the Bylaws of the Appalachian Region – PCA, the Nominating Committee (Bob Herrmann, Charlie Hickey, and Jim Peterson) nominates the following for the Board of Directors of the Appalachian Region – PCA for terms beginning January 1, 2020.
- President – Don Therien,
- Vice President – Jim Moore,
- Secretary – Don Grainger, and
- Treasurer – Matthew Pohsweg.
Porsche Asheville is having a 911 992 Launch party on October 8th and would like to display some 911s.
I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend.
The next autocross event is back at the Michelin Laurens Proving Grounds in Laurens, SC. on September 14, 2019.
Hello Zone 3 PCA! My favorite time of the year is just around the corner and we have a LOT going on around the Zone.
On August 15 to 18 we returned to The Ridges at Lake Chatuge in Hiawassee, GA for our fourth annual Appalachian Adventure – what a weekend!
We met on August 14 at the Triskelion Brewery in Hendersonville.
Our second Driver Education event of 2019 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC is September 7-8, 2019.
In accordance with the bylaws of the Appalachian Region, an officer nomination committee has been formed for the purpose of putting forth a slate of AR members in good standing to elect a new Board of Directors (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) to serve a two-year term starting 1 January 2020.
Congrats to not only those below, but to all the Zone 3 folk in attendance who made Parade such a cool event. Next year: Palm Springs California!
Appalachian Adventure is coming up in a couple of weeks;
The Fireside Restaurant and Pancake Inn of Hendersonville proved to be a popular breakfast venue for the August 2019 Breakfast Ramble as the run-up to the Appalachian Adventure.
We held our second Off-the-Beaten-Path drive and dine on July 19.
About a dozen Appalachian members met at the Oskar Blues Brewery in Brevard on a rainy afternoon.
The drive was billed as driving the Nantahala Gorge, but the highlight was actually driving the 35-mile long Wayah Road.

Linda Goodman, Editor of the From the Regions column in Panorama, was our guest at our May 25th Drive, Hike & Dine on the Blue Ridge Parkway. To thank us, she has made a donation to the Manna Foodbank, an Appalachian region charity partner,
About a dozen Appalachian members met at the Dry Falls Brewery in Hendersonville on June 12.
With respect to the New Member Social/Annual Picnic registration, there was a website software bug that caused the registration link to appear closed. The bug is now fixed.
Despite the dismal weather forecast and dark skies, 20 Appalachian members met for breakfast and car talk at the Randevu Restaurant in Cashiers.
As stated in a recent email, the Appalachian Region New Member Social and Annual Picnic will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 5:00 pm .
June is a special month as we celebrate with and recognize our newest members at our annual picnic on Saturday, June 22nd at Long Meadow Park in the Ramble, 'official' activities starting at 5:00 pm. Please reserve this date and plan to attend!
Memorial Day Weekend provided Appalachian Region with unbelievable weather for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
As a reminder, Appalachian Adventure Registration is open on ClubRegistration.net.
About a dozen Appalachian members made a rainy drive north to Burnsville for a Saturday breakfast at the Pigs & Grits.
We met at Pisgah Brewing where we enjoyed sun on the patio after driving through rain to get there.
'Drive, Hike & Dine: Parkway Highlights' is the Appalachian Region's drive and dine event scheduled for May 25th;
Harmony Motors hosted their third annual Mountian Air Cars and Coffee on May 4.
A mile of Porsches stretched the roads of Brevard for the second annual Luft Wasser Porsche celebration that featured mountain drives, a Parade of Porsches into town and a Main Street display while members enjoyed eating, talking and shopping.

We met in Hendersonville on the deck at Guidon Brewing, where the warm spring weather sent folks scurring back to their cars for hats and sun glasses.
The April Breakfast Ramble was set for the Pisgah Inn; promising one of the best views of any restaurant in the area.
Wow! How did we get to April 1st already? This is already a huge month with our second annual Luft Wasser Celebration being held in Brevard... 'Sold Out' with 170 vehicles registered!!
Our first APR Driver Education event at CMP on March 16-17 was a blast as usual!

Luft Wassser is Sold Out!
Time is starting to run out with less than two weeks until our first Driver Education event of 2019 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC on March 16-17 hosted by Carolina's Region PCA.

The March 2, 2019 Tech Session saw 26 Appalachian Region members meet at Porsche Asheville for a session by Matt Emerson from their detail team, A&R Specialists.
Quick AR upcoming event reminders
Based on the success of the inaugural 2018 Luft Wasser Porsche Celebration, Brevard City Officials have provided a new high profile display area in the Heart of Brevard for the 2019 Luft Wasser Porsche Celebration.
Originally, we had planned to hold breakfast rambles only in good weather months, but we decided that February weather was "good enough."
We retured this month to the Wedge Foundation.

The Appalachian Region of PCA is hosting its third annual Appalachian Adventure featuring the best driving roads in America at a world-class resort.

Attending the Rolex 24 in Daytona Beach is a great experience every year, and this year the racing was exciting in spite of the weather.
As odd as it sounds, 19 members of the Appalachian Region Porsche Club spent the morning of February 2 at the BMW Performance Center. Through contacts that member Lee Geronime had, we were able to connect with Lead Driving instructor Derek Leonard for a super-duper day with BMW’s.
