On our August tour we visited the Cradle of Forestry.
As was true for most of our recent tours, this was a test drive for Treffren Asheville. The morning started with the usual safety meeting at the Asheville Outlet Mall, where all the Treffen tours will begin. We had a pleasant, leisurely drive west on the Blue Ridge Parkway followed by a pleasant, if somewhat less leisurely, one down Route 276 to the Cradle of Forestry, where modern forestry in the U.S. began. Most of us went into the facility to see a film on the history of the industry and take a guided tour. The morning had been dry, but clouds were gathering, so while some continued to explore the exhibits and visit the craft show in progress, others lit out for home.
