This week, we have two events on Wednesday, October 12th:

  1. There is a Treffen Asheville (TA) Committee meeting at 2:30pm in the Porsche Asheville conference room. If you would like to serve on the TA committee, you are invited to attend.
  2. From 5 to 7 pm, we have an AR social at Dynamite Roasting, 3198 US-70 just west of Black Mountain proper. The Dynamite Roasting parking lot is gravel; if so desired to protect your car, permission to use the paved Sherwin Williams has been secured (~14 spots). Please do not use the parking spaces adjacent to the store front as Sherwin Williams will still be open for business.

We also have the VA car show coming up on Saturday, November 5th. If you haven't registered, please do so soon. Preregistration is not required but is encouraged. The show supports recreational therapy programs for our Vets.

I apologize for cancelling the Leaf D&D planned for last Saturday but the weather was a determining factor. I kept an eye on the Craggy/Black Mountains all day: between rain showers, the area was shrouded in fog so even without wet leaves on the twisties, short-range views would have been limited to mostly green leaves. Once the colors hit, I encourage you to use the tour route and take a leisurely drive in you Porsche, if possible, with a couple of your club friends!

'Fueled by Volunteers': it is appropriate to mention that Charlie Hickey has stepped up and taken the Merchandise/Goodie Store Chair as well as serving as Safety Chair. Thank you, Charlie! Only the Events and Marketing/Communications Chairs remain vacant: we have a current need for an Events Chair but rather than have a single person 'do it all', I would like the Events Chair to coordinate activities generated by the membership... so if you would like to volunteer as the Events Chair, you will have the support of the AR membership in doing the 'heavy lifting'. If you have an idea for a monthly activity, please email me in the interim. We have people that will 'flush out' an activity, pre-drive routes, coordinate lunch reservations, apply for insurance, whatever, alleviating a lot of the work previously placed solely on the Event Chair. January, February and March are normally indoor activities because of weather. We will start planning drives for March (weather allowing)/April: keep in mind that drives will be planned with Treffen in mind: to showcase WNC, reveal 'hidden treasures' (roads, attractions) and suitable lunch locations.

Finally: this is your club. Without you, we're just a bunch of car owners, in search of fellowship and a destination. Getting involved can be very rewarding: we need your involvement!!

See you Wednesday,

Peter GrahamPeter
