On March 7, the Appalachian Region, PCA, held its first monthly meeting with a fine presentation by Wayne Bush, the “map guy,” on scenic drives in our area.
Wayne publishes touring maps of local roads in Western North Carolina and adjacent portion of Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. Each road is rated on the basis of scenery, driving fun, and traffic. Most of his customers are motorcycle riders, but any good motorcycle road is even better in a Porsche. His maps do reflect some of the concerns of motorcyclists; they are waterproof, printed on a durable material, and 11 by 17 inches. However, this also makes their use very convenient in a car.
You can obtain maps and information from Wayne's Website, http://www.americaridesmaps.com/.
Many thanks to Wayne for his talk and to Harmony Motors for providing the meeting space.
President Jim Peterson (with Harmony Motors' Charlie Schieren to his left) welcomes everybody to the first meeting of the Appalachian Region.
