November Activities

Join Members at BearWaters Brewing in Canton Tonight, November 15

Tonight's Social Mixer will go west, as the Appalachian Region visits BearWaters Brewing at 101 Park Street in Canton. BearWaters sits on the Pigeon River and features a great kitchen for eating while you are socializing.

This is an open house type event; come and go as you please between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Have a glass of beer, a bite from the kitchen, or just some fine conversation with fellow Appalachian Region members.

No Registration is necessary.

Turkey Trot Drive Returns to the Calendar - November 25

We’ve all been there… a couple of days into Thanksgiving weekend, too much food in our bellies and too much sitting around. By Saturday morning we’re facing more feet-up time watching football, meanwhile our cars are just collecting dust! But there’s a cure: Doug Menchhofer has brought the Turkey Trot Drive back on the calendar.

The drive starts at the Cedar Mountain Outpost for a 50-mile loop down to Sassafras Mountain, SC to gaze out from the highest elevation in the state. Meet-up time will be 9:45 a,m.; safety briefing at 10:00 and departure at 10:15. The tour will end back at the Outpost located at 8431 Greenville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712, where you can purchase delightful lunch options to enjoy inside the café.

Registration is now open for the Turkey Trot. Click on this link.

To enhance the spirit of Thanksgiving, please bring a non-perishable food donation to be collected after the driving tour. If you can volunteer to transport the collected items to Manna Food Bank in Asheville on the following Monday, please contact Doug Menchhofer (tour leader) to advise. Tour sweeps and potentially a second group lead are also needed; again, please let Doug know if you can assume one of these roles.
