Appalachian Event
Registration will open August 14, 2020 at 12:00 pm.
On Saturday, August 29, 2020 the Region will dust off our Macans and Cayennes with David Stori and David Angelus leading us on a drive along a Forest Service Road to the top of Wayah Bald. At the top we’ll have a short walk to the Wayah Bald Lookout Fire Tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937.
We’ll enjoy a picnic at Wayah Bald so we can be socially distant correct and outdoors for maximum safety. There will be two driving groups so we meet guidelines that only allow 24 people per group.
Each drive group will have 12 SUV’s. Meet-up and Departure times are still being determined. This site will have the times once registration opens.
This drive is a “drive what you brung” – a Porsche SUV is not required. If you have a SUV, join David S and David A on this fun, different drive for the club.
The drive will meet up at the Haywood County Rest Area on US-23. After a short freeway drive we will enter the Nantahala Gorge for a beautiful winding drive along the Nantahala River before entering the Forest Service Road off Wayah Road.

For a resurrection of our Breakfast Rambles, we will return to one the club's favorite breakfast restaurants: Randevu, 18 Chestnut Square, Cashiers, North Carolina 28717. Breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m. It is a Ramble to The Randevu so you find your own way there.
Saturday, September 19 is also Ferry Porsche's Birthday where there is a tradition for Porsche owners to drive their Porsches.
For those of you interested in a drive post-breakfast, there will be a drive from Cashiers up NC-107 to NC-281 where we will cut across the twisty Charlies Creek Road to NC-215 that will take us up to the Jukebox Junction Cafe on US-276 in Canton. This stopping point on US-276 provides an easy route home for Waynesville, Hendersonville and Asheville members as we head in our own direction.
