Fall Color Tour

The Fall Color Tour this year includes Driving and Boating as we will drive the Blue Ridge Parkway to connect to the Drovers Road NC Scenic Byway to take us into Lake Lure.  Lunch will then be featured at the Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure.  Thanks fo new Member and New Porsche owner JD David for the idea and planning of this event.

The drive will originate in Asheville at the west end sub lot of the WalMart on Hendersonville Road.  We will meet at 9:00 a.m. and after a safety briefing, hit the road for Lake Lure.  The route will take us along the Blue Ridge Parkway where we'll connect with Charlotte Highway, 74a in Fairview.  From Fairview we'll continue onto one of my favorite drives, the Drover's Road NC Scenic Byway into Lake Lure.  Drover's Road is named as it used to be the winding trail through the mountains to drive livestock to the markets in Asheville.  Today's road follows the tight switchbacks that were necessary for the livestock to cross the mountain.

In Lake Lure we will board Pontoon Boats at the Marina for a one-hour narrated, guided tour of the lake. The cost is $14 per person payable in advance.

A short 30-minute drive after the boat ride will take us up the twists and turns of Buffalo Shoals Road for lunch at the beautiful Rumbling Bald Resort.

Lunch Location:  12:30 p.m. at Rumbling Bald Resort, Lake Lure, NC
