Trombatore Trail to Blue Ridge Pastures Drive & Hike
Difficulty: Intermediate
Length: 5 miles roundtrip
Elevation: 1200’ up / 1200’ down
Starting Location: Ingles, 1865 Hendersonville Rd, Asheville, NC (meet the hiking group near the car wash).
After the safety briefing, we will drive 15 miles to/from the trailhead traveling along Mills Gap, Burney Mountain and Hooper’s Creek Roads.
Start Time: 9:30 a.m. (Safety Briefing at 9:45 a.m.)
End Time: Approximately 2:30 p.m. after a picnic lunch at the mountain summit (Blue Ridge Pastures).
Hike Description: The Trombatore Trail is a 5 mile (roundtrip) trail that leads to Blue Ridge Pastures, a grassy bald with spectacular views. The trail offers a hike with up-and-down elevation change, through a forest with clear mountain streams. When you reach Blue Ridge Pastures, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Hickory Nut Gorge and Bearwallow Mountain.
Thanks to Conserving Carolina for securing the land and their hard-working volunteers for creating this trail that will one day be part of the much longer Upper Hickory Nut Gorge Trail to a network of trails at Florence Nature Preserve.
