The Appalachian Region – PCA was founded February 2, 2015 by members of the Mountain Area of the Carolinas region and has since grown to serve over 350 members in western North Carolina. (See The Beginnings for an account of our founding.) This website and our Facebook page provide communications for the Region, and feature information on the Region’s activities as well as those of its individual members. See the Help tab for suggestions of how to efficiently navigate it. If you would like to contribute information, please contact our Website Chair. While this site is open to all, our Facebook page is open only to Region members; contact our President.
Most Region meetings occur in the morning on the first Saturday of each month. These can be technical (e.g., Porsche engine systems) or social (often a drive-and-dine). We also hold informal socials at local breweries (for which Asheville is famous), usually in the early evening on the second Wednesday of each month. See the Events tab for more information or contact our Events Chair.
The Appalachian Mountain area in western North Carolina has some of the finest driving roads in the world, and touring them is one of our frequent activities. Maps are available under the Tours tab on this site. For more information, contact our Tours Chair.
We have recently established a Region track program to organize participation in autocross and PCA Drivers Ed events. See the Track tab for more information or contact our Track Chair.
In the late summer of each year we hold Appalachian Adventure, a weekend multi-event celebration that features a people’s choice concours, tours, a tech quiz, socializing, and dining, usually at a resort near Asheville. For more information, contact our Appalachian Adventure Chair.
Each month a group of members meet to pack boxes for Manna Foodbank, which provides food for needy folks in western North Carolina. For more information, contact our Historian.
Each Summer we hold a New Member picnic Region New-member Picnic with a shine-and-show of our members cars.
In the late fall, we hold an Oktoberfest charity celebration. In 2023, it raised $15,000 for MANNA Foodbank.
In December, we hold a Christmas/Holiday Gathering jointly with Porsche Asheville, our platinum sponsor. This is a charity event and through it our members make a substantial donation to a seleted local charity each year.
We welcome all at our monthly meetings and socials; see our home page for the next ones or the Events tab for a complete schedule. Also see our New Member and Visitor Guide to Appalachian Region Activities for an overview of our activities. If you are interested in becoming an Appalachian member, please contact our Membership Chair.
