More and more members now own a Porsche SUV or have some other SUV in their garage. Let’s take your SUV off the beaten path with a first-ever off-road drive and dine using Forest Service roads for a different drive experience.

Don’t worry; we are not talking a serious off-road drive.  Rob has scouted the roads and feels confident that a normal SUV or other high-riding vehicles can easily navigate these roads. The low-slung Porsche sports cars are not suggested on this drive though Rob did encounter a new Corvette on the road.

Here is how Rob describes the roads that we will be experiencing:

“The drive roads are well-maintained National Forest roads.  We will experience several hundred feet elevation changes.  We would not be "off-roading" along "two-tracks" or logging roads where there is little room for error.  The drive is along two lane roads with room to pass on-coming cars with care.  The road surface will be packed gravel for the most part but with occasional short sections of dirt in low areas and low water crossings.  I encountered only one crossing that was wet.”

We are opening this drive up to all vehicle makes and models – a Porsche SUV is not required. “Run what you brung!”

NOTE:  Since we will be at a higher elevation in November, we will only proceed with the drive on a fair weather day.

Beaten Path

This is a representative road in the Pisgah National Forest, but not the actual road that we will be driving.

See you in the Forest!
