On April 14 over 20 members of the Region met at its first breakfast ramble.
Our first time breakfast ramble as suggested and arranged by Joe Watson was a big success. We had taken great care to avoid any organization. There was no sign-up, no pre-drive meeting, no signing of waivers; everybody was just told to meet at the Cedar Mountain Cafe, near Dupont State Forest, for breakfast. Yet, over 20 members arrived in 15 different Porsches including a 356, Caymans, Boxsters, a couple air-cooled 911’s, a turbo and a Cayenne.
Cedar Mountain Café, sitting on the edge of the DuPont National Forest, provided a great breakfast after a beautiful early morning jaunt in our Porsches.
A group of us met in Hendersonville and charged through DuPont, while another group came down I-276 from Waynesville. Other individuals found their own way from Asheville and the surrounding area.
Clint Owings, won the award for closest drive, only living a mile down the road and I think Peter Graham might have driven the furthest with a drive down the BRP from Black Mountain. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drives whether it was near or far.
The food was great and the restaurant was overflowing.
I know our members were enjoying themselves because a customer came up to me wondering who our group was that was having so much fun in their local restaurant.
To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger: “We’ll be back.”
