The first (that I know of) smart driving Porsche was recently tested at a stadium in Barcelona, Spain. The Panamera was being guided by a Huawei Mate 10 flagship smartphone. The self-driving Porsche was using the same smartphone camera, powered by the same artificial intelligence, to scan the Camp Nou parking lot for objects and react accordingly by either steering around them or braking. It’s probably just me, but that doesn’t sound like a lot of fun.

So…you think you’ve heard it all? Porsche has started work on flying passenger drones (!...?) Company sales lead, Detlev von Platen made note of just such a venture recently. Both Daimler and Volvo (Geely) have dipped into this potential market.
Already registered for housing for the 2018 Porsche Parade? Great! The next thing to do is to register for events at Parade, such as banquets, concours, rallye, tours, and the autocross. When? Event registration opens 4/2/18, at noon, at pca.org.
Rennfest, Peachstate Regions multi event weekend, is now open for registration. This event, in its fiftieth year, will be held once again at the Brasstown Resort in Young-Harris, GA. When calling to book a room there, make sure you ask for a room being held in the Porsche Club of America block. Their phone number is 706-379-9900. Was the 2018 running of the twelve hours of Sebring a turning point for the Porsche #911 and the #912 factory sponsored RSR’s? The cars finished first and third respectively in the GTLM class. Over in GTD, the GT3R’s finished sixth and ninth.
