I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving: we have a lot for which to be thankful! December is just around the corner and the Appalachian Region has quite a bit going on to finish out 2017:
- Short notice - Cars and Coffee Asheville 'After Dark': tonight from 8-10pm, 100 Coxe Rd, Asheville. More information may be found on Facebook: After Dark.
Appalachian Region Annual Members Meeting: Saturday, December 2nd 10am at Country Club of Asheville, 170 Windsor Rd, Asheville. All members are invited to attend.
- December Social: Wednesday December 6th 5-7pm at the Wedge at Foundation, 5 Foundy Street, Asheville. If you arrive before 6:00 you can order take-out from 12 Bones, which shares a patio with Wedge. We're holding this a week early in December to separate it a bit from our Holiday Celebration on December 12.
- Annual Christmas/Holiday Gathering: Tuesday, December 12th 6-8pm at Porsche Asheville, 621 Brevard Road Asheville. This year's event is for the benefit of Read To Succeed Asheville. The suggested minimum donation is $10/person (if you can give more, please don’t hesitate to do so), collected at the door/registration (cash or checks; receipts available). Please RSVP with number of attendees to email@example.com
As a reminder if you have not already done so, please vote for the slate of Appalachian Region Officers for 2018-2019 before December 1st. The vote is done via email: you may click on this link and then complete appropriately: firstname.lastname@example.org. Primary and family members are encouraged to vote. Officer Bios may be found here. Election results will be announced at the Members Meeting on December 2nd.
Thank you to all those who came out to support the VA Car Show and our veterans! Again this year, the Appalachian Region garnered the 'Best Represented Club' award!
.. and finally, our track day at Roebling Road was a huge success with very positive feedback. Thank you to Porsche Asheville for co-sponsorship and to Coastal Empire for providing instructors. Claudia and I took both our '68 912 coupe and our 'new-to-us' '86 944 Turbo, having a great time 'tossing' both cars about (Claudia is making noise about wanting to do it again). This event was so popular that the AR is now looking for a HPDE ( High Performance Drivers' Education) chair. The Region is not in a position to put on a HPDE but we need someone willing to investigate nearby Regions' DE events and coordinate AR members' participation. Anyone interested in holding this position may contact me: email@example.com.
As I anticipate a very busy month of December, I would like to wish everyone a safe and joyous Christmas/holiday season! I hope to see you at an Appalachian Region event very soon: please make every effort to come to the Christmas/Holiday Gathering; it is the crowning social event of the year, particularly with all that we've accomplished this year!
Looking forward to seeing you at an event soon,
